Mehmooda-Duke MBE DL – High Sheriff of Leicestershire
Mehmooda is the founder of Moosa-Duke Solicitors, set up in 2003. Mehmooda spent the first 10 years of her medical negligence career defending the NHS and GPs and has built up the firm’s CES specialism and team. Mehmooda’s invaluable and extensive knowledge of how claims are defended is unique and serves the firm well. Mehmooda was head of the Legal Department at a large hospital Trust and also represented GPs covered by the Medical Defence Union. Mehmooda has secured multi-million-pound settlements in CES cases.
Mehmooda is currently a non-practicing solicitor whilst she performs her duties as High Sheriff of Leicestershire.

Daniel O’Keeffe is a Director at Moosa-Duke Solicitors. He is President of the Leicestershire Medico-Legal Society and one of the co-ordinators for APIL East Midlands. Daniel has vast experience in running the most complex Cauda Equina Syndrome cases, including winning a 3 week fully contested trial, in the High Court in Leicester. Daniel’s work on Cauda Equina Syndrome cases played a large part in him becoming the current Leicestershire Law Society Solicitor of the Year.

Gemma Lewis is a Director and Senior Solicitor at Moosa-Duke Solicitors, having joined the firm in 2015. Gemma’s extensive experience in investigating Cauda Equina Syndrome cases and seen her win some very complex cases; he dog with a bone approach serves her client’s well. Gemma obtained a First-Class Honours Degree at Nottingham Trent University in Forensic Sciences, before training to become a solicitor.
